What is Matrix HMB?
HMB ((?-Hydroxy-?-methylbutyrate) Is a metabolite of the amino acid leucine. HMB has been shown to be more effective than leucine at attenuating the rate of muscle protein breakdown and also induce muscle protein synthesis. Although leucine and HMB are similar in nature, they are metabolised differently. Increasing Leucine consumption would only result in modest increases in HMB levels. Supplementation is vital to increase HMB availability.
